Veterans’ Day services at two locations in Bristol on Sunday

Posted

Bristol’s official Veterans Day observances will begin at 8:30 a.m. this Sunday, Nov. 11, with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial Garden next to the Burnside Building on Hope Street.

A short time later, services resume at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Home, with a memorial service that begins at 10 a.m. This will be a regular Mass, held inside the veterans’ home chapel.

Following the service, at 11 a.m., observances continue with a full slate of activities. Gen. Rick Baccus, administrator of the veterans’ home, will welcome veterans and guests with opening remarks. The Bristol Train of Artillery will be supporting the ceremony by posting the colors, firing a cannon salute for each war, and conducting a rifle salute. Guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Christopher Hoover of the U.S. Marine Corps. The Mt. Hope High School marching band will be participating as well. Steve Skuba will play Taps.
