Runaway pick-up smashes into three vehicles near Mt. Hope Bridge
The driver of a Chevy pick-up truck lost control of his car and smashed into three cars in the north bound lane of Ferry Road at the base of the Mt. Hope Bridge in Bristol on Monday afternoon.
The male driver took out a road sign as he lost control of his car and crashed over the median. The runaway vehicle grazed a Ford F150 carrying three adults and three young children. The pick-up then careened off a Holmes Landscaping dump truck, popping four tires and then broadsided a Lexus sedan.
The Lexus driver said that the vehicle maintained it’s speed as it hit him, smashing into the driver’s side door and shattered the window. He left the scene with multiple scrapes and wounds.
Bristol firefighters extracted the Chevy pick-up driver from his car and placed him on a stretcher and took him to Rhode Island hospital.
All other victims escaped unharmed.
