MHHS ceremony postponed as student tests positive
Bristol Warren Regional school officials cancelled Tuesday’s planned “Crossing the Stage” ceremony after learning that a Mt. Hope High School student tested positive for the covid-19 virus on Monday.
School officials were informed of the positive test by the student’s parent. The student was asymptomatic, superintendent Dr. Jonathan Brice said, and officials were alerted that the senior had been in contact with other students.
“We have contacted the Rhode Island Department of Health to determine our next course of action,” Dr. Brice wrote in a letter to parents. “In consultation with the school committee attorney, we have reached a decision to postpone (the) Crossing the Stage video recording until we have more information about the potential exposure to a number of students.”
