Young artist designs Fourth button for second year in a row
For the second year in a row, middle school student Luke Daniel has designed the official Bristol Fourth of July button. The Fourth of July Committee sorted through 39 entries for this year’s button contest and chose winners in three different age brackets.
Madison Andrews, a fifth-grader at Colt Andrews School, had the winning design among artists in Grades K to 5. Her parents are Cristalee and Chad Lambert.
Evan Daniel, Luke’s brother, had the winning design in the high school age group. Evan is a sophomore at Mt. Hope High School.
Luke Daniel, an eighth-grader at Kickemuit Middle School, had the winning design in the middle school bracket for the second year in a row. The Daniels’ brothers parents are Cherie and Eric Daniel.
Luke’s design features a sailboat in the foreground and the Mt. Hope Bridge in the background. It will adorn the official button for the 2021 celebration.
All three winners received $50 prices, and the overall winner received an additional $75. All are invited to ride in the parade this year.
