Bristol police and fire officials responded to a three car accident in the south bound lane of Metacom Avenue in the vicinity of Sherman Avenue shortly after noon on Wednesday morning.

A female driver of a white Volkswagen sedan was hit from behind by a silver Toyota pickup, that was in turn, struck by a white van.

The woman was helped out of her car by rescue personnel, placed on a stretcher and taken to the back of the rescue truck. The accident caused lines of traffic heading both north and south bound on Metacom Avenue.
