Susan M. Marine, 63, of Bristol, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, in Rhode Island Hospital. The daughter of the late Napoleon S. and Georgette “Helen” (Leary) Nutter and the wife of John L. Marine, she was a long-time resident of Bristol.
Susan wore several hats in her lifetime, but none made her prouder than her work as a pre-school teacher’s assistant. She loved working with children and cherished her time with her classes. She also was involved in coaching the Pop Warner Cheerleading team.
However, her profession was always secondary to her family. Susan was known as the central hub of the family and always stole the floor at parties and gatherings, due to her feisty nature. Apart from family gatherings, she loved spending time with her children and, later, her three grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, John, Susan is survived by her two sons, John N. Marine and his wife Laura and Nick Marine and his wife Cynthia, both of Bristol; her daughter, Melissa Andrade and her husband Kevin of Warren; her two sisters, Anne Nutter of Florida and Newport, R.I., and Janice Tidwell and her husband David of Washington; three grandchildren, Miles Marine, Leah Andrade and Cameron Andrade. She was the sister of the late Michael Nutter, formerly of Vermont.
Services are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Family and friends are invited to meet at the church.
