Robert H. Thurber, 71

Robert H.Thurber, 71,  passed away peacefully at Hope Health Hospice in Providence on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He was the husband of Barbara DePina.

He was a longtime resident of Bristol. He was employed for over 30 years at Northeast Roofing. Bob was an avid gardener and an excellent craftsman. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and football. He loved his family and especially the great-grandchilden.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Bob leaves behind his brother, Ronald Thurber, 

stepdaughters Kim DePina and Holly Cabral, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents Albert and Theresa Thurber, he is preceded in death by his sister, Lauri Tetrault.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held as soon as possible at the Common Pub in Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
