As a Vietnam veteran, I watched this county waste 10 years of tax dollars and thousands of service personnel killed over those 10 years get flushed down the toilet.
As the local news made aware as the first Afghan family was being placed in Rhode Island, I ask who is paying for this home where they will live? As a disabled homeless veteran who has been paying a weekly fee to live in a motel, I ask “what about me”?
I served this country for 14 years. Why am I having trouble getting into a nursing home to meet my medical needs? All three of our elected federal officials have a blind eye, deaf ears and mute mouth to give me an answer. I am not only speaking about my issues but of the thousand other veterans out there struggling with PTSD and homelessness.
I grew up in Bristol, where values of family comes first. I guess the federal government doesn’t see it that way. I dislike the politicians that are running this country, but I do salute the U.S. flag.
