Letter: Vision screenings help students keep eye of the Lion

Posted

The Bristol Warren Regional School District School Nurses would like to say thank-you to the Bristol Lion’s Club for performing vision screening on students at Colt Andrews, Hugh-Cole, Guiteras and Kickemuit Middle School. They also performed vision screening at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Steve Krohn was very kind in communicating and organizing this event with the school nurses. Judy Ciociola and JoAnn Silva were two other members who assisted Steve in the vision screening process.

The Lion’s Club’s dedication to community service and for the prevention and treatment of eye disease is commendable. They completed vision screenings for the district at KMS grade 7 students on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30 after the Thanksgiving break despite the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

It was a great opportunity for students of the Bristol Warren Regional School District to interact with these caring community volunteers and see one of the great public services this non-profit organization provides.

The Lion’s Club has also provided a drop box at schools for students and families to donate old used prescription glasses that can be recycled for individuals in need primarily in low and middle income families.

Thank you!
