Letter: Today’s liberals aren’t the liberals I once knew

Posted

Mike Proto’s recent letter congratulating the “Conservatives’ ” win in the recent election used the term “liberals” to describe the alternative to “conservatives.” I must remind him that the liberals of yesteryear (1960s, ’70s and ’80s) were different from today’s Progressives, which is what the Progressives of today want us to think they are.

The liberals in the past proudly proclaimed, “I may disagree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” Compare that to today’s Progressives, who shout “Do what we want or we’ll burn this place down,” as they have done in Portland and Seattle.

Where are the Progressives who will ever denounce this destruction and lawlessness?

The Democratic Party of today is not the party of the working person. It has been taken over by those who want to change the American way of government by non-Constitutional actions.
