Letter: To many, ‘MAGA’ symbolizes anything but greatness

To the editor:

When Peter Hewett invokes “MAGA” and claims “it is difficult to comprehend how anyone could possibly find fault with this acronym”, he displays the myopic refusal to accept the reality of a shrinking cohort of extremist anti-democratic radicals rejected by voters in the recent election.  In the real world, MAGA is the fiction of a draft dodging, misogynistic, mendacious, narcissistic insurrectionist; a failed creation of reality television.

It is the logo of a disgraced, twice impeached, Putin-loving former president who obsesses over the perceived notion that his failure to win an election was the fault of everyone but himself.

MAGA has become the symbol of the Jan. 6 insurrection, a brazen attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected government of the United States of America with the assistance of ultra right wing lunatics including the white supremacist Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, many of whom are justly serving time in prison for desecrating our Capitol, symbol of our democracy, and attempting to kill capitol police and Congressional representatives, and stop the Constitutionally mandated function of choosing a President.

Thanks to America’s electorate, MAGA and all those cheap red Chinese ball caps are well on their way to the ash heap of history. No one should consider “MAGA” and all it implies their “North Star”!
