Letter: Outraged at school start date

Posted

I am outraged that the Bristol Warren Regional School District would even consider beginning the school year on Sept. 7, which is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. In the article, “School board commits to Rosh Hashanah start date,” chairwoman Marge McBride complained that by starting school a day later on Sept. 8, it would be necessary to finish on June 23. Why would starting one day later require the school to stay open an extra week?
