Regarding last week’s Bristol Phoenix article, “Islanders losing parking near Bristol Ferry Landing,” I’d like to offer my suggestion.
Mr. Goglia’s offer of his parking lot located on Wood Street, in Bristol, at very affordable monthly and yearly rates, to the Prudence Islanders, is a good one. I’d like to enhance his offer a bit further, as a short- and possibly long-term solution, with my suggestion idea.
Given, as the article states, it’s only a 12-minute walk from the Ferry Landing to Mr. Goglia’s Parking Lot, I like to suggest that ferry commuters could also “drop-off and pick-up,” their fellow family/friends commuting and/or their belongings, at the Bristol Maritime Center, located right next door, for temporary storage until they’ve returned after parking their car/truck/SUV; Or depart to Mr. Goglia’s Lot for retrieving their car/truck/SUV. Only one person, therefore, within a group, would need to walk the 12-minutes. Additionally, during inclement weather, the Maritime Center will keep passengers and belongings safe and dry!
Additionally, Harbormaster Marsili and his staff would likely “keep an eye” on any belongings left unattended? I’m sure, so.
