Letter: It seems the Conservatives like to make it personal

Apparently the Conservatives like to make it personal, as in the case of Mr. Zachary Cooper — throwing pot shots at those he disagrees with. Mr. Cooper, you are as brave as Will Nardi, the student you named as “exposing” me with the lies told on campusreform.org.

Nardi, a former College Republican who was never a student in my classes at Roger Williams University, decided to fabricate lies about my teaching to his right-wing propaganda machines. Never did he have the courage, the guts, to meet me face-to-face to talk about what he falsely accused me of, despite my invitation. I understand he left the school and enrolled in Falwell’s Liberty University, a school devoted to Conservative right-wing propaganda — perfect departure.

For the record, I am proud to be lumped in with good citizens like Lisa Peterson and Dyshell Palmer. Good luck with your name calling of me and others, Mr. Cooper. I will not throw mud back at you or take any cheap shots. You must live with yourself. Best of luck.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
