Letter: Bristol Blooms needs your help now more than ever

To the editor:

Bristol Blooms will celebrate its 10th anniversary this spring — a decade of beautifying our historic downtown with blooming flower baskets and festive holiday wreaths! Unfortunately, the outlook for this year is ladened with new challenges.

We are so grateful to our prior grower for his past service and generosity, who unfortunately is unable to continue. Currently we are seeking a new grower who meets our needs and standards. We know that our expenses for flowers and planting will definitely increase, as have all of our supplies.

In the past, Bristol Blooms was always able to meet our expenses because of the generosity of so many local citizens and businesses who take pride in Bristol. You kindly helped us during the economic downturn during Covid. Now we are at a point where our donations have plateaued, while our expenses continue to increase. Costs for basket liners, flowers, daily watering, golf cart maintenance, fertilizer, wreaths, printing and postage, etc., have ALL increased.

Simply put, we need more money and more people to donate. Bristol Blooms is a volunteer community organization that gets its funding from you. You donate the dollars, we do the work, and together we enhance and beautify Bristol for all to enjoy.

Please find it in your hearts to help us continue. If you have not previously donated, consider joining those who have sustained Bristol Blooms for the past 10 years and help us to keep Bristol Blooming!

Kindly send your tax deductible donation in any amount to:
Bristol Blooms
PO Box 1083, Bristol 02809

We thank you!
