Letter: A community is helping us get through this together

Posted

While Rhode Island’s assisted living facilities continue working to protect our residents, support our staff, and find a “new normal” during the COVID-19 crisis, we have been met by countless challenges. But under pressure, we’ve seen a community work miracles.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Franklin Court Assisted Living staff for their commitment, care and compassion during these very trying times. We appreciate the work of our first responders and all of the health care workers on the front lines. They are our heroes who have dedicated their careers to protect, serve and care for our dear residents and others.

Our very own Franklin Court Assisted Living residents voluntarily hand-made personalized face masks for all residents and staff. We also received donated homemade face masks, surgical masks, hand sanitizers and special luncheons from organizations, businesses and families.

Our local pharmacies have ensured that our residents remain able to receive their daily medications. We are also grateful to our health care distributors and vendors, whose tireless efforts to source, secure, and transport needed supplies, which have prevented shortages.

We’ve turned to the community for strength — from those who have donated supplies to those who have volunteered their time and energy to support our residents.  We are infinitely capable when we help one another. We can’t express our gratitude for the outpouring of support we’ve received. We will get through this together.
