Joseph A. Palmieri, 81, Bristol

Joseph A. Palmieri, 81, of Bristol passed away in Newport on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022. He was the husband of Lucille (Gibree) Palmieri for 62 years before his passing.

Born in Warren, RI, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary (Teoli) Palmieri. Joseph was a Warren High School graduate, class of 1958.
In addition to his wife Lucille, he also leaves behind his children: Joann Bernard, Lucille Machado, Joseph Palmieri, Maryann Robinson, Lynn Palmieri; his nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, his brother Robert Palmieri; and his extended family and friends.
Joseph was pre-deceased by his grandson Jason Palmieri, his parents, and his siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022 from 8 to 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to the East Bay Food Pantry, 532 Wood Street, Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
