Born in Bristol
Elsie (Vargas) Ferreira, 93, passed away on February 17, 2018. Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Duarte) Vargas. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Ferreira.
Elsie worked for M&R Sportswear, formerly in Bristol, for 20 years before retiring in 1976. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Society.
She is survived by two sisters, Frances Waggoner and Louise Perry; as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her siblings, Manuel Vargas, Palmira Messier, Mary Sylvia, Phoebe Vargas and Emily Cabral.
Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11 AM, followed by a graveside service in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning only from 10 to 11 AM.
