Eagles, Titans skate to 1-1 tie in girls’ hockey (photos)

PORTSMOUTH — Even after a five-minute overtime period, a winner could not be decided between the Barrington/Mt. Hope/Portsmouth and Toll Gate/Pilgrim/Chariho high school girls’ co-op teams on Saturday.

The game, played at the Portsmouth Abbey School rink, ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Eagles scored in the first period, while their opponents evened things up in the second in the non-conference game.

The Eagles are now 1-5-1 overall and 1-4 in the league. Their sole victory came on Dec. 16, when they bested Cranston West, 7-3.

Here are some of the team’s upcoming contests:

• Friday, Jan. 13, at 8:30 p.m.: Smithfield/Coventry/Moses Brown co-op at Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink

• Saturday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m.: Smithfield/Coventry/Moses Brown co-op at Portsmouth Abbey

• Friday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m.: Toll Gate/Pilgrim/Chariho co-op at Thayer Arena

• Saturday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m.: Burrillville/Ponaganset/Bay View co-op at Levy Ice Arena

• Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m.: Narragansett/North Kingstown/South Kingstown co-op at Portsmouth Abbey

• Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.: La Salle Academy at the Rhode Island Sports Center
