Bristol Police made a handful of arrests from Dec. 21 to 27, including one for a repeat offender who was sent to the ACI as a probation violator. Following are incidents from the Bristol Police log.

Bristol Police: Domestic incident sends repeat offender to the ACI

Bristol Police made a handful of arrests from Dec. 21 to 27, including one for a repeat offender who was sent to the ACI as a probation violator. Following are incidents from the Bristol Police log.

Monday, Dec. 21

A Highland Road resident called police to report a raccoon inside their home at 2:43 p.m.

A Fales Road resident called to complain that a tree service company had left a crane in his driveway without his authorization.

A Warren man was arrested after an anonymous caller reported that a man had assaulted a woman and slashed the tire on her vehicle at a Metacom Avenue location at 9:08 p.m. After questioning the alleged victim of the incident, who denied there had been any physical altercation, officers found Brian Silva, 31, of Warren, hiding in a bathroom closet inside the residence. He was taken into custody and charged with violation of a domestic protective order, third offense. He was held at the station overnight and brought to District Court for arraignment the following morning. At the arraignment, Mr. Silva was presented as a bail violator on a previous charge and open case and held without bail on this violation. He was remanded to the ACI pending his next court appearance. There were no vandalism charges because no one witnessed the damage to the vehicle other than the anonymous caller.

Tuesday, Dec. 22

Officer responded to Johnson Court at 1:43 p.m. for a verbal argument.

A resident on Sandra Drive called police at 5:41 p.m. after hearing footsteps upstairs. An officer discovered a raccoon in the rafters. The raccoon ended up in the garage and the homeowner decided to leave the garage door open for the night in hopes the animal would leave on its own.

A resident on Bay View Avenue reported seeing a man in their breezeway looking inside the home at 5:54 p.m. A patrolman responded and found nothing unusual.

A resident on Siegel Street called police about a disorderly juvenile at 7:55 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 23

A caller reported hearing gun shots from the water near Mt. Hope Farm at 10:57 p.m. A passerby reported seeing people hunting from a boat in the area.

An officer warned a dog owner about letting the animal run loose at the town beach and sports complex at 9:52 a.m.

A motorist reported damage to their vehicle from a pothole on Burton Street at 12:33 p.m.

A Gladding Street resident reported fraud at 1:02 p.m.

A woman in her forties allegedly got out of her vehicle at the top of the Mt. Hope Bridge and made a suicidal statement at 2:44 p.m. before leaving the scene. Bristol Police sent out alerts to departments throughout the area before the woman was located in Cranston.

Someone complained about a barking dog on Viking Drive at 3:15 p.m. The owner agreed to bring the dog inside.

An patrolman spoke with a motorist after an apparent road rage incident that began in Warren and continued to the area of Metacom Avenue and Broadcommon Road at 4 p.m.

A resident on Coggeshall Avenue reported unemployment fraud.

Following an apparent fight between a man and woman at the corner of Wood and Church streets at 9:34 p.m., officers arrested John R. Turnbull, 33, of Warren. He was charged with domestic simple assault and arraigned at the station.

Thursday, Dec. 24

A caller reported deer hunters along Poppasquash Road at 10:40 p.m. Officer checked the area but could not locate them.

Officers responded to Fox Hill Avenue at 2:30 p.m. for a report of disorderly conduct. It turned out to be a landlord/tenant dispute.

Jennifer D. McGann, 50, of 9 1/2 Church St., Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test after being taken into custody outside her home at 3:44 p.m. She was arraigned at the station by a justice of the peace later that night and released (see separate story).

A resident in the area of Franklin and High streets reported fireworks at 7:56 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 25

A woman from Prospect Street called police at 8:37 a.m. to report that her husband was at the house in violation of a restraining order. He was gone when officers arrived. Bristol Police sent out an alert for other departments to be on the lookout for his vehicle.

Officers assisted firefighters on Varnum Street when a fire broke out in a red truck at 8:27 p.m. The truck was fully engulfed, but firefighters knocked it down before it could spread to the garage or residence.

Saturday, Dec. 26

A Christine  Court resident reported credit card fraud and identity theft at 10:43 a.m.

Joseph A. Simpson, 31, of 254 Wood St., Apt. 1R, Bristol, was charged with a Superior Court warrant at 1:48 p.m.

An officer spoke with a man and woman who appeared to be hiding behind a storage container along Metacom Avenue at 5:37 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 27

Officers responded to Murphy Avenue at 12:26 a.m. to investigate a report of two people arguing in an adjoining apartment.

Midland Farms on Wood Street reported the use of counterfeit bills at 2:43 p.m.

A man was dispersed from the scene after a Court Street resident reported that a neighbor was harassing her husband at 5:04 p.m.
