Bristol Elks name Veteran of the Year
Walter Coelho, seen here in the center with wife, Kathy, and his family, was recently named the 2023 Bristol Elks Lodge Veteran of the Year.
Coelho is a veteran of the United States Army and is president of the Bristol Veterans Council. He also serves at the Department of RI DAV (Disabled American Veterans) State Commander, is the Commander DAV East Bay Chapter 15, a Committee member of the Governors Challenge for Suicide Awareness and Prevention, is the VFW Post 237 Voice of Democracy Scholarship Chair, is Co-Chair of the Portsmouth Veterans Honor committee, and has served as an interviewer for the Library of Congress Veteran History Project.
