Bigger than ever, Bristol's State Street Arts Fair is on Saturday

Posted

Last September’s very successful festival featured the work of 62 local artists and vendors, and this weekend’s incarnation, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, will be even bigger.

According to Hotpoint artist and event organizer Holly Dirks, it will be the biggest to date, with vendors setting up on the street and in the park beginning at 7 a.m.

In addition to a juried selection of local artists working in a range of media including fine art, pottery, and jewelry, there will be local authors selling their books, a caricature artist and a portraitist, as well as a selection of products including handcrafted soaps, lotions, and dog treats.

There will be no food trucks at this event, though Dirks noted that the restaurants on and around the venue are anticipating and ready to serve the larger than normal daytime crowds expected, with warming weather under overcast skies forecast at press time for Saturday.

Musicians will keep the crowd entertained beginning at 11 a.m. with Nick and Emily Moreira. Gary Farias will come on at 12:30, followed by Bill Killian at 2:15 and Neal & The Vipers at 3:45.
