Anthony Banno, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully in Bristol on Nov. 14, 2020. He spent the last 32 years of his life as the loving husband of Frances Mendenhall (Raiola) Banno.
Born in East Providence, he was the son of the late Mary (Gonsalves) Banno and Anthony Banno, Sr.
Anthony graduated from East Providence High School at the age of 16 in 1946. Anthony was the owner/operator of Banno Construction. When in good health, Anthony was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife Fran enjoyed rug hooking and were members of the Little Rhody Thrummers and the National Guild of Pearl K. McGown.
Anthony will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and his infectious smile.
In addition to his wife Fran, Anthony is survived by his children: Patricia Fitzpatrick, Ellen Long, Edward Mendenhall (Kimberly), Barry Mendenhall; his grandchildren: Jamie Beane and Kerri Warner; his great-grandchild: Kyla Beane; his brother: Raymond Banno; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Anthony was predeceased by his first wife, Mary DeFelice, his parents, and his siblings: Gilbert Banno and Georger Banno.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday Nov. 23, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State S., Bristol. All in attendance must wear masks and maintain social distancing. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad, 4 Annawamscutt Drive, Bristol, RI.
