Everything is ready for the 12th annual Frontline Ministry Ride for Freedom this coming Sunday, Aug. 20.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at Jacky’s Galaxie on Metacom Ave. with a 12 noon sharp start. Helmets are recommended.

“The ride will take you through a memorable and scenic view from Bristol through Portsmouth, Tiverton and Little Compton,” noted Melissa Benevides Vance, who has helped coordinate this event in recent years. “The ride will end at Defiance Hose Co. No.1 on Hope Street. The ride is fully guided by local police departments and their motorcycle units.”

“There will be a donation of $25 per driver and $20 per passenger,” Vance continued. “Light breakfast treats, graciously donated by Bristol Dunkin’ Donuts, will be available at registration followed by a cookout-style lunch after the ride. Riders will also get a commemorative T-shirt and a flag for their motorcycle.”

Raffles will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., as well as prize raffles donated by generous local businesses, and a 50/50 raffle. All raffles will be pulled during the ride and announced at the Defiance Fire Station.

“Front Line Ministry for Freedom has mailed over 2,000 care packages since starting their Christian-based non-profit organization in 2008,” Vance reported. ”This event helps them continue to share a piece of home with the brave soldiers overseas as well as give back to the veterans in our community.”

She concluded, “No donation is too small, if you would like to donate, they would love to see you at the ride or visit their website.

Over the years, this event has been well-attended, and more of the same is expected this time around.
