Barrington resident reports basketball hoop, backboard, pole stolen

Posted

A Barrington resident stopped into the police station on Monday, June 15 to report the larceny of a basketball hoop, backboard, and pole — the only part left behind was the plastic base filled with sand.

The resident told police the hoop had been located at the edge of the property. The resident said the hoop was stolen between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. on June 12.

According to police, the resident thought the larceny might have been accidental, possibly involving someone who thought the hoop had been listed on the Buy Nothing Barrington site. But the resident later learned that someone had approached her neighbor and asked if the hoop was available, and the neighbor said it was not.

The resident told police the suspect was driving a white box truck.
