Police investigating larceny of jewelry from Barrington home

Missing jewelry valued at more than $20,000

Posted

A Barrington resident stopped into the police station on Friday afternoon, June 12 to report the larceny of jewelry from the home.

The resident told police that over the past few months, three pieces of jewelry with a total value of more than $20,000 had gone missing from the home.

The resident said the jewelry disappeared over the last two to six months. At first, she thought she may have misplaced a couple of items but more recently another piece went missing. Police said there have been some people entering the home on a regular basis. Police also said there was no sign of forced entry at the house.

The home is located in the Rumstick section of Barrington.

Police said no one has been charged yet, and none of the jewelry has been recovered.

Fast food bags

In a separate incident, a Barrington resident called police on Tuesday, June 9, to report that she believed someone had been inside her home the previous night. The woman is in the process of moving — she said there were food bags found at the home. Police officers responded to the house and found two bags from Wendy’s in the driveway, but police said there was no evidence that anyone had been inside the home.
