The Barrington High School boys' hockey team scored three first period goals and held on to capture the Division II championship with a 3-2 win over Rogers/Middletown/Rocky Hill on Sunday, March 19.
The Eagles scored earlier and often, and Barrington goalie Josh Cabral made some key saves late in the game to secure the victory. For his effort, Cabral was name the game's MVP. Cabral finished the game with 17 saves against RMR.
Dominic Robidoux opened the scoring with a goal at the 1:51 mark of the first period. Luke Rudman assisted on the goal. Barrington stretched the lead to 2-0 when Josh Roy found the back of the RMR net at the 8:20 mark. Jonathan Fay notched the assist. Michael Grieve scored the Eagles' third goal (assisted by Kyle Shuman and Timothy Hall).
The victory gave Barrington the series advantage, 2-1. Barrington opened the series with a 5-2 win, then dropped the second game 2-0.
