The entire community is invited to the Barrington Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies on Monday, May 27.
Residents are encouraged to check the Town’s website (www.barrington.ri.gov) and social media presence if there is any inclement weather — a decision will be made at 7:30 a.m. on Memorial Day if the remembrance portion of the event will be moved inside of Barrington High School at 10 a.m. due to rain.
“If all seems good, but weather rolls in during the parade, then the parade will conclude safely and continue moving to Town Hall,” stated a press release from the town. “The ceremony will be hosted inside the Town Hall Council Chamber.”
The day’s events consist of three elements — attendees arrive at Barrington High School Victory Gate at 9 a.m. for the wreath-laying ceremony; at 9:30 a.m., parade participants will line up at BHS near Lincoln Avenue and proceed left to Upland Way down Barrington Avenue to Maple Avenue, and the procession will continue down County Road; and there will be a ceremony at Town Hall following the parade that will include a keynote speaker and speeches, a formal remembrance, the raising of the flag, and additional musical tributes.
Attendees are welcome to bring their folding chairs, as there will be limited seating provided.
