Barrington Junior Varsity team finishes second at regionals

Barrington Pop Warner Junior Varsity cheerleaders placed second at the New England Regional competition and will compete at Pop Warner Nationals.

The 2023 Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships will take place on Monday, Dec. 4 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. 

The Barrington cheer team of 26 athletes has set up a gofundme page, and is also hoping to recruit local businesses to sponsor the team's trip. Members of the team will also be collecting donations outside of Quality Fruitland on Nov 25.

Barrington Pop Warner also wants to congratulate the Mitey Mite and Junior Pee Wee teams for a very successful regional competition, and the Tiny Mite team for an amazing exhibition performance at RISMA over the past month.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
