Warren Police Log: Tree comes out on top in crash; officers investigate road rage incident

The following is the Warren Police Department weekly arrest blotter:

Sunday, Aug. 30

Trevor Norton, 19 and of Berlin, Conn., was stopped on Kickemuit Road for a motor vehicle violation at approximately 2:36 a.m. After an investigation, Norton failed a series of field sobriety tests and taken into custody without incident. Norton was charged with DUI (First offense, Unknown Blood Alcohol Concentration) and was later arraigned and released with a future court date.

Monday, Aug. 31

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle traveling on Child Street at approximately 10:54 a.m. The vehicle fled from officers and the operator was later identified as Timothy Margetta, 55 and of Fall River. Margetta later turned himself in at police headquarters and was charged with Eluding Law Enforcement (High Speed Pursuit). He was arraigned and released with a future court date.

Wednesday, Sept. 2

Wadeshley Rivera Padilla, 27 and of Providence, was stopped on Water Street for a motor vehicle violation at approximately 10:08 a.m. A check through the RI DMV showed Rivera Padilla did not have a valid RI driver's license. He was charged with Driving With A Suspended License (4th or subsequent offense) and Driving While License Is Suspended For Certain Violations. He was arraigned and released with a future court date.

The following is a synopsis of the Warren Police Department weekly call log:

Saturday, Aug. 29

Several callers reported a traffic hazard in their neighborhood at around noontime. The responding officer determined it was a parent using cones to slow down vehicles due to the presence of children at the location. The officer advised the parent of the unauthorized use of the cones and that they needed to be removed.

Monday, Aug. 31

Multiple callers reported a motor vehicle collision, a car vs tree, Child Street and Long Lane at 11:59 p.m. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation was notified about several street signs having been damaged on the state road. The operator of the vehicle was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment. No charges against the driver have been made at this time.

Tuesday, Sept. 1

A caller reported a road rage incident on Metacom Avenue at Patterson at 3:30 p.m. According to police, a suspect vehicle has been identified, but are waiting for more information before taking action. The vehicle fled the scene, however the other motorist took down the license plate. Investigation of the matter continues.

Thursday, Sept. 3

A resident of the neighborhood in the area of Kickemuit Middle School off Child Street and Hugh Cole Road called police with a noise complaint at 12:47 a.m. Construction crews were still working on the renovated parking lot at KMS. The responding officer was told the workers were finishing up the striping of the lot and were soon expected to leave the location.
