Joseph D. LeBrun Sr., 77, of Warren, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia (Olstead) LeBrun; they were married for over 57 years.

Joseph was born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph D. and Ellen (Massi) LeBrun.

Mr. LeBrun was a United States Army veteran, serving as a Staff Sergeant with the 118th Military Police Battalion. He was the head of security for the Doris Duke Estate in Newport for over 10 years.

A Warren resident all of his life, he was a parishioner of the former St. Jean the Baptiste Church, now St. Mary of the Bay Church.
He was a member of the Columban Fathers, the American Legion, and was an avid train collector.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Joseph D. LeBrun Jr. of Warren; and his twin sister, Beverly Rogers of Austin, Texas. Mr. LeBrun was the grandfather of Joseph D. LeBrunV., and he is also survived by a niece and a nephew.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 8:30 am from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours are Tuesday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
