Joao Luis Mota, 54, of Warren and formerly of Bristol, passed away on October 28, 2020 at home.  He was formerly the husband of Natalie Mota.

Born in Cabouco, Sao Miguel, he was the son of the late Joao Moniz Mota and Urania Costa Mota. He was the father of Shannen Mota of Warren, Jonathon Mota of Warren and Ana Luisa Oliveira of Canada. He is also survived by his sisters, Fatima Escamilla and her husband Juan of Warwick, Maria dos Anjos “Angel” Mota and her husband Bill of Warwick, Grace Mota of Providence, Susana Spencer and her husband Jason of Warwick, and Eduarda Marzagao and her husband Pedro of Warwick; his brother, Antonio Mota and his wife Melissa Mota of Warwick; as well as 19 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mota was educated in Portugal and employed as a carpenter for several companies including Raul Construction and TPI before retiring.  He was formerly a member of the St. Elizabeth's Church's Santo Cristo and Trinity Committees.  He was also a former member of the Don Luis Filipe and the Lincoln Club. Benfica was his team and he made sure you knew it.  He was a fun, loving man and was always joking around.  He loved spending time with his family, gardening and building anything with wood. He would call his children and brother daily to update them on the weather or news of what was going on in the world.

His funeral services were held November 2nd from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church.

Burial follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Tanner, Andrew Soares, Justin Soares, Derek Sousa, Matt Cabral and Brandon Braga.
