Bernardett (Nunes) Freitas, 90, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Grace Barker Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Jose O. Freitas.
Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Eduino and Hortense (Goulart) Nunes. She immigrated to the United States in 1969. A woman of God, she was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and daily prayer was very important to her.
Mrs. Freitas enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. She was an excellent cook and liked to bake cakes. Known for her caring, loving and generous ways, family was always her main focus.
She is survived by five children, Celina Rodrigues of Newark, CA, Renato Freitas of Cranston, Noelia Durand of East Providence, Eduino Freitas of Freemont, CA and Gilberta “Jill” DaSilva of Providence; a sister, Hortense Avila, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Margarida M. “Maggie” DePina and Hortense Freitas, and was also the sister of the late Utilia, Ester, Silvaldira, Jose, Gilberto and Mario Nunes.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15, from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., Warren. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Warren. Visiting hours are Friday, June 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
