Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: I am running for Little Compton Town Council because I love this town and care about how it is governed. I want LC to be safe, beautiful, accessible and affordable and, first and foremost, I want town government to be more accessible and responsive to all.

Currently I am a Professor of Health Policy at Brown University, but my career has been mostly in State Government, in Vermont and Rhode Island. I worked for two governors in Vermont. Here in Rhode Island, I served for Governor Raimondo as the State’s Medicaid Director, Health Insurance Exchange Director and Acting Secretary of Health and Human Services. In those jobs I saw the power of government to improve lives, but also understood what it means to manage taxpayer dollars and be accountable to the voters.

I have managed large public budgets and been responsible for gathering diverse public input in a way that is respectful, thoughtful and inclusive. I hope to bring that experience to bear on a town council that is transparent and responds to the needs of the community for sensible policy and funding.
