Three Bay View seniors pen Division I college sports letters
Swimmers, softball player commit on National Signing Day
EAST PROVIDENCE — St. Mary Academy-Bay View held the first of its annual athletic signing ceremonies on Wednesday, Nov. 13, which saw three senior student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent, committing to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Juliana Goncalves, of Rehoboth, signed to swim for the Providence College Friars, a Division I team in the Big East Conference. Gianna Spremullo, of Cranston, signed to swim for the Tulane University Green Wave, a Division I program in the American Athletic Conference. Rebecca Vaillancourt, of Tiverton, signed to play softball for the UMass Lowell River Hawks, a Division I side in the America East Conference.
Goncalves is a multi-event All-State and All-Division competitor in the breaststroke and medley relay. Spremullo has earned several regional and state awards for swimming the individual medley and the backstroke. Vaillancourt has earned division and state accolades for her work as the Bengals’ starting catcher.
November 13 was the first day of the fall signing period. Another takes place for the spring in April 2020.
