Thelma L. (Hathaway) Durfee, 93, of Tiverton, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Warren Center. She was the longtime companion of Franklin "Clem" Cotta; they shared 45 years together.

Ms. Durfee was born in Fall River, daughter of the late William E. Hathaway, Sr. and the late Mildred L. (Peckham) Hathaway, and was a lifelong resident of Tiverton.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a nurse's aide at the Grand Islander, Middletown. She was a member of Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton, and sang in the Junior and Senior choir for 42 years. She would also often fill in for the organist and teach Bible and Sunday school. Ms. Durfee loved to dance and swim and tan at Fogland.

Survivors, along with her companion, include her three daughters, Sharon L. Magan and her husband Richard of Florida, Cheryl and Lauren; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Burl, Daniel, Kristy, Kerry, Katie, Kimberly, Kylie and Kaitlin; 23 great grandchildren including Jessica, Charlie, Bailey, Bryanna, R.J. ]and Xander; three great-great grandchildren, Micheal, Kendal and Chloe; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late William E. Hathaway Jr. and grandmother of the late Kasey Corscadden.

"Each new day a gift, forever grateful for family and dear friends, the smile on her grandchildren's faces and the warmth of the sun on hers. The light in her heart will forever shine for it was full of love."

Private arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
