James R. DeHass, 77, of Tiverton, passed away at home on December 17, 2018. He was the husband of the late Mary DeHass, to whom he was married to for 53 years before her passing in 2015. He was the son of the late Thomas and Norma DeHass.
Mr. DeHass served proudly in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. His distinguished 22 year career brought him to every corner of the U.S. and all over the world. After the Navy, he was employed at Rhode Island Hospital as an engineer until his retirement.
Mr. DeHass loved spending time with his family and good friend Alfred Ragas, and his beloved four-legged friend Sadie.
He leaves behind six children, James DeHass (late wife Barbara), Theresa Boivin and her husband Brad, Michael DeHass and his wife Myra, Richard DeHass and his wife Michelle, Daniel DeHass and his wife January, and Tara DeHass and her fiance Matthew Roderiques. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and two sisters, Judy DeHass and Beatrice Leckwart of New Castle, Penn. He is preceded in death by his siblings; Thomas DeHass, William DeHass and Dixie Yaney.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Road, Tiverton. www.almeida-pocasset.com for on line guest book. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
