Irene (Dutka) Bugara, age 93, of Fall River and Tiverton, was met in heaven by her one true love and husband, Stanley M. Bugara Sr. (deceased 1985), due to complications of COVID 19 and dementia.

She was born in Fall River to the late John and Mary (Pogubila) Dutka.  She graduated in 1944 from Durfee H.S. and summered in Westport and Newport.  She had a great passion for reading, was a consummate knitter and loved cats.  She took in strays, fed the neighborhood cats, and participated in Feral TNR 9 (Trapping, Neutering, and Release of Feral Cats)

She is survived by a sister, Mildred Dutka of Tiverton; predeceased by a sister, Alice Ragonesi of Somerset’ and a brother, Joseph Dutka of Fall River.

She is also survived by her five sons, Michael (his wife Margaret) of Little Compton, Carl of Swansea, Paul (his wife Pam) of Cleveland, Ohio, Stanley Jr. of Houston, Texas, and John of Houston, Texas; one daughter, (her “Favorite”), Tina Alicia of Fall River; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Fall River.  Donations in memory of Irene can be made to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, MA 02721.

Services are private under the direction of Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway, Fall River.

The family would like to thank the awesome staff of the Clarebridge Unit of the Brookdale Assisted Living for the amazing and loving care they bestowed upon Irene, and for the nurses who became her family, Deb McLaughlin and Judy Waleski.
