Edward “Butch” F. DeMello Sr., 62, formerly of Tiverton

Edward “Butch” F. DeMello Sr., 62, formally of Tiverton, passed away February 18, 2021, after complications from a stroke. 

Butch lived in Dinwiddie, Va., for the past 11 years. He enjoyed hunting and running dogs. He was an Honorary Lifetime Member of Paskamansett Beagle Club. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife, Frances DeMello; daughter, Heidi DeMello; son, Edward DeMello Jr.; grandson, Jalil Copher; and sisters, Beverly Mello, Dorothy Gordon, Kathy McCready, Margaret Atkinson and Patricia Mello. He was the son of the late Manual and Mary (Carvalho) DeMello and the brother of the late Alice Shaw, Benny DeMello, Clara Medeiros, Evelyn Lewis, George DeMello, Irene DeSouza, John DeMello, Joseph DeMello Sr., Manuel DeMello Jr., May Wright, and Theresa Jusseaume.  Butch also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Loved ones may go to www.jtmorriss.com in advance to leave messages to be tied to balloons and displayed at the service.  Messages can be submitted by clicking the yellow bar at the top of the page that states Hugs from Home. 

Services are being held at J.T. Morris Funeral Home at 6616 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie, Va., on Sunday, February 28.  Due to Covid restrictions, the service will be limited to 75 attendees and the family will not be receiving anyone at this time.  Viewing and service will be closed casket. Viewing will begin at 1 pm followed by a service at 2 pm.  So that all may pay their respects, the service and viewing will be streamed at www.jtmorriss.com and seen by clicking the link within the obituary at the time of the service.  

A party will be held at Paskamansett Beagle Club in Massachusetts in the future to celebrate the life of a wonderful person who will be greatly missed.
