Doris M. (Haynes) Tierney, age 91, a longtime resident of Framingham, Mass., and Tiverton, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter B. and Olive (Tompkins) Haynes. She was the wife for over 40 years of the late Richard J. Tierney, who died in 1994.
Doris is survived by her sons and their wives John and Susan of Jacksonville, Fla., Timothy and Nancy of Ponce Inlet, Fla., and Richard and Mary of Tiverton, and her daughter Susanne and her husband James Daniel of Marietta, Ga. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Kathryn, Sara, Lauren, Robert, Michael, Carolyn, Kaley, Shelby, Mary-Kate, Caroline, Jennifer and Daniel; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter Meghan, her brother Douglas and sister Elisabeth.
Doris was a second-grade school teacher for over 20 years in the Ashland School District. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed reading, gardening, birds, music and dancing. An avid games player, she spent many joyful hours playing Scrabble and Rummikub with her beloved grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street (corner of Union Avenue), Framingham, Mass., followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m.. Burial will follow at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Association at alz.org.
