Little Compton

Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: I worked as a teacher in high-need schools in New York City and Boston before becoming a lawyer. I have worked as an attorney for RI Council 94 for the last 4 years representing 1800 workers across the State of Rhode Island. I am running for Little Compton Town Council because I want to be involved in the decision-making in our town. My daughter Sophie goes to Wilbur McMahon School, and I want to see the School's ratings improve. The roads need repairs, and Little Compton needs more safe recreational opportunities for all. As your Town Council Member, I will work hard to bring these changes to our town.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
