Letter: Maybe the old Haines plan is better than the new one

When I served on the council, the state offered to sell Haines Park to the town for $1. As the town was maintaining the property, it was thought to be a good idea.

The sports groups got together with Don Leighton, a former resident, who was a landscape architect, and he came up with a plan for athletic fields at Haines. The neighbors went crazy and put an end to anymore plans for Haines.

I assume that no one on Parks & Rec. remembers this incident, and is unaware that somewhere in some file are those plans.

Mike Seward should be aware of this as he was appointed to Parks & Rec., when I was on the council.

Maybe the "old" plans are better than the "new."
