Jurors needed for inaugural installation at new Warren sculpture pad

Posted

The Warren Arts and Cultural Commission (WACC) recently announced an opportunity for community involvement in the selection of the inaugural sculpture for a new sculpture pad to be located along the bike path around Child Street and Railroad Avenue.

The establishment of the sculpture pad is a testament to Warren's dedication of fostering creativity, enhancing public spaces, and celebrating the arts. Now, WACC is calling upon community members who share these values to join the jury and play a pivotal role in shaping the artistic landscape of our town.

"We are thrilled to involve the community in this significant decision-making process," said Erin DeThomas, Chair of the Warren Arts and Cultural Commission. "By joining the jury, residents can contribute their unique perspectives and help us select a sculpture that reflects the vibrancy of our town."

The Commission is hoping to find two community members and a sculptor to serve on a jury. Jury members will be responsible for evaluating submitted proposals, selecting the finalists, conducting interviews with selected finalists, and attending a follow up meeting to select the final piece. This will take place during the months of May and June 2024. No prior experience in art curation is required, as diversity of thought and background is valued in the selection process.

Those interested in joining the sculpture selection jury can find more information and submit their applications by clicking this link or visiting WACC’s page within the Town website. Applications will be accepted until April 30, 2024.
