The clerk at the Barrington Shell station contacted police after a woman allegedly threatened her over a dispute involving a newspaper.
The clerk told police that an elderly woman had entered the store and asked for "The Times." Thinking that the elderly woman was referring to the New York Times, the clerk handed her a copy of the NY Times.
The elderly woman reportedly became quite angry, as she had been referring to the Barrington Times.
The clerk told the woman that the Barrington Times was sold out, which reportedly made the elderly woman even angrier and she began swearing at the clerk.
The elderly woman eventually left the store, but called back later and told the clerk that she was "coming for her." That call made the clerk nervous, and she called police to report the incident.
Police checked the surrounding area for the elderly woman, but could not locate her. The clerk requested periodic checks to the store by police officers.
