A person called Barrington Police on Friday, April 19, and reported that a Barrington resident was abusing his dog by not treating its medical condition.
Police said the resident had posted a picture of the dog on Facebook and asked for money so he could bring the dog to a veterinarian. Police responded to the resident’s home and saw the dog — police said the dog, a yellow Labrador retriever, had obvious wounds and was bleeding.
Police later charged Tyler M. Savinon, 22, and Tara L. Williams, 41, both of Barrington, each with single counts of unnecessary cruelty to animals-first offense, and owner/keeper fails to provide dog adequate food/water/care-second offense.
Police took custody of the injured dog and also seized a puppy that was at the home. Police brought the dogs to the East Providence animal shelter.
Police worked with the RISPCA on the investigation.
