Workshop focus: Reimagine the Bay Spring Community Center gathering space

Posted

The public is invited to attend a design workshop to help reimagine the rear yard gathering space behind the Bay Spring Community Center.

The workshop will be held on the second floor of the community center, located at 170 Narragansett Ave., on Monday, Feb. 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Landscape architect Kevin Alverson will be leading the design process.

Recently, the Town of Barrington removed the decades-old playground equipment behind the Bay Spring Community Center based on a recent compliance review that required closure of the playground. The Barrington Department of Public Works also regraded and reseeded the rear yard and planted two red maples near Spring Street.

In addition to providing a place to play for local kids, the rear yard has been used for events sponsored by the Friends of the Bay Spring Community Center, including concerts and community gatherings.

The Town plans to move the summer Cool Kids Camp to the BSCC this year and has plans to install a ground-mounted solar array behind the building near Spring Street.
