Whitehorne Museum celebrates makers past and present

Take part in an afternoon of crafts and hands-on activities at the Whitehorne House Museum on Saturday, August 13.

The museum will be hosting local creators, including the Timber Framers Guild, Newport Sea Foam Trading Co. and the Saunderstown Weaving School, from 12-3 p.m. in the garden. 

From 3-4:30 p.m., join museum historians in a discussion about the history of craftsmanship from the 18th century to today. 

WHAT: Whitehorne Day Makers Past and Present event 

WHERE: Whitehorne House Museum, 416 Thames Street, Newport, RI 

WHEN: August 13 from 12-4:30 p.m. 

ADMISSION: Free and open to the public; registration reccomended

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
