Barrington Police are investigating strange notes found in the mailboxes at three Barrington homes last week.
Police said an Atlantic Crossing resident stopped into the station on Wednesday, Nov. 2, after she found a note in her mailbox that read: “I stole your mail.”
Police said the note included a phone number. Police called the number, but the person who answered appeared completely unaware of the situation.
A short time later, an Upland Way resident contacted police after finding a note in the mailbox; the note instructed the resident to call a number to check if a spouse had been unfaithful.
A Winsor Drive resident also contacted police after finding a note in her mailbox. The note was very similar to the one left in the Atlantic Crossing resident’s mailbox.
Any other residents who found notes recently are asked to call police at 401-437-3933.
Police said none of the notes had been post-marked, meaning they had not been delivered by the US Post Office.
