Police: Man driving pickup tries to steal from farm stand lockbox

Witness describes suspect: Tall man with curly hair, driving red pickup truck

A Barrington resident told police someone tried to break into the lock box at the Barrington Farm School vegetable stand.

The man called police on Friday, Aug. 21 to report the crime, which  occurred the previous night, he said. The witness told police he was driving by the farm stand — it is located near the intersection of Middle Highway and Federal Road — at about 9 p.m. on Aug. 20 when he heard a loud noise.

The man said he stopped and saw a tall man with curly hair at the stand. The man fled the scene in a red pickup truck. The witness then found the damaged lock box. It was valued at $100. It was not clear if the suspect made off with any money from the lockbox.
