Police: Hunter loses his shotgun in Hundred Acre Cove

Portsmouth man says gun was inside floating case

Posted

A 30-year-old Portsmouth man stopped into the Barrington Police station on Friday, Feb. 4 to report a missing gun.

The man told police he had been hunting on Hundred Acre Cove and while packing up his belongings after hunting, he mistakenly left his shotgun at the shoreline of the Walker Farm boat launch.

The man went home and later, after realizing his gun was missing, returned to Walker Farm boat launch to look for the gun but it was not there. The Portsmouth man told police he thinks the gun may have been carried away by the high tide.

The gun had been inside a camouflaged floating case — the brand name was Tangle Free, and the shotgun was a Remington.

Police are asking anyone who finds the case and gun to call the station at 401-437-3930.
